Island and peninsula

Top-down view, to scale. Solid boxes are base cabinets (24" deep). Dashed boxes are wall cabinets (12" deep). Drag to move. Tap a cabinet to select it. Red means it overlaps another cabinet or runs past the wall. Shaded squares are corners: only one cabinet should fill each corner. Drag the orange dot to move an island.

Front view

Each wall as you face it, to scale. Countertop line at 36". Wall cabinets hang with their bottoms at 54". The top line is your ceiling. Red means a problem shown on the plan.

Walls

Auto-fill fills the open space with standard widths and a 3" filler trimmed to fit. It works around windows, doors and appliances. Check the result before you order.

  1. Measure each wall from corner to corner at about counter height (36"). Measure twice and use the smaller number.
  2. For each window and door, measure from the corner to the outside edge of the trim.
  3. Measure the width of each window and door, including the trim.
  4. Measure the window sill height from the floor.
  5. Measure your ceiling height from floor to ceiling in a few spots and use the lowest.
  6. Note where the sink drain and water lines, the range outlet or gas line, and the fridge space are.
  7. For an island or peninsula, leave at least 42" of walkway (48" if two people cook) in front of every counter.
  8. Enter the numbers in inches. Check your plan before you order.
